"Knowledge management at Syngenta"

The Excursion will lead us to the Biological Research Centre of Syngenta in Stein (Switzerland). Syngenta is the first company worldwide focussing on agriculture. The branch “Crop Protection” is market leader worldwide. The second branch “Seeds” is number three. Syngenta reached a business volume of 8.1 Billion USD in 2005 and has 19,000 employees in more than 90 countries.
The headquarter is located in Basel with research sites in Stein, Switzerland, (where this excursion will go to), Bracknell, UK and North Carolina, US. Syngenta became famous for being first sequencing the rice genome and for introducing the first hybrid barley in Great-Britain called "Colossus" in 2003.
The second stop will be in the Black Forest to learn more about the EU LIFE-Project on the protection of Phasianidae in the Black forest.
