Freiburg is the sunny capital of the Black forest in the southwest of Germany close to the Swiss and French border.
centre of the city is the mideval cathedral (German: Münster) with its tower
widely called the most beautiful of christianity. The city has an unusual system of gutters (called "Bächle") that run throughout its centre.
The scenic beauty and easy access to the Black Forest make Freiburg a famous starting point for exkursions. The longest cable car in Germany runs from just outside the city to a nearby mountain called Schauinsland.
Freiburg can be reached easily: By train using numerous fast-train connections, by air reaching the international Euroairport Basel/Mulhouse and the international Airport of Strasbourg or by car on one of the direct Autobahn-connections.
